Client - Pendle Court Day Nursery
The client’s request
Pendle Court Day Nursery approached Walker Audio Design to design and install a new sensory room within one of the rooms at their newly purpose built nursery in Nelson, Lancashire. They wanted a room for their children to relax and or explore their senses in a safe and fun way, with the use of interactive sensory items that use “cause and effect” to encourage social interaction.
What we proposed
Working together with staff members we designed a sensory environment that included two British made bubble tubes, a fibre optic wall carpet and a musical squares interactive wall panel and floor pad. The room also boasts a star ceiling sensory panel, glitter ball, ball pool, a set of LED projector effects, bespoke floor and wall pads and an “simple to use” audio system.
The outcome
The children have a room where they can relax and play whilst learning about their senses. The sensory products
within the room encourage social interaction and help to develop important visual, tactile, vestibular and proprioceptive
skills as well as turn taking
